Communications and Updates

(12/8/20) All Vista Staff and Families:

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:

Throughout the pandemic, Vista has used the guidance from the CDC and the DoH to inform our decisions. At times, this meant that our policies and procedures were more stringent than those provided by CDC and DoH. Specifically, Vista remained true to the original travel restrictions, including quarantine directives. As of late, we have found that the variation in guidance and the various exceptions included in the DoH guidance have caused a lot of confusion among the Vista community. At a time when we all have a lot on our plates, we believe it is best to hold true to our original plan to follow the guidance of the medical community. As such, Vista’s travel policy will now align with the direction, including exceptions, provided by the DoH.

In addition to aligning our travel policy, the DoH recently updated their guidance regarding quarantine for individuals who have been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. Under the new DoH guidance, the quarantine period for asymptomatic individuals has been shortened from 14 days to 10 days from date of exposure, as long as no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. Under the new guidance, the quarantine period for asymptomatic individuals can be further reduced to no less than seven days as long as a negative COVID-19 test result is produced and specific testing criteria are met.

You can find additional information regarding these changes and other important information relating to COVID-19 on our website. Moving forward, we will work to ensure that our procedures and policies align with the guidance from DoH and CDC. We ask that you help us keep the Vista community safe by monitoring yourself for symptoms daily, following social distancing guidelines, frequently washing your hands, and wearing a mask.

Vista’s Executive Leadership Team

(11/30/20) All Vista Staff and Families:

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.

Recently, the Secretary of Health updated Pennsylvania’s travel advisory information indicating that anyone that travels outside of the state must obtain a negative COVID test 72 hours prior to re-entry and/or quarantine for 14 days. Vista has traditionally followed the guidance from DoH; however, Vista reserves the right to develop policies that may be a little different than the guidance provided. Due to the potential of false negatives resulting from tests taken early in the virus incubation period, Vista does not accept a negative test and will continue to require a 14 day quarantine following travel outside of Pennsylvania. This guideline is in the interest of health and safety for the individuals in our programs, their household members, and our staff.

As an additional update, DoH also changed their guidance regarding the lists of states on the travel advisory. The advisory now indicates any travel outside of Pennsylvania. This update and change to the information will now require a 14 day quarantine for any travel outside of the commonwealth. See Vista’s COVID-19 Travel Restrictions.

Moving forward, updates to orders provided by the DoH or the CDC or updates to Vista policies will be listed on our new COVID Resource page which can be found on our website under Resources. While we will notify you of any important updates, please be sure to check this information often.
